Each block of Project Mercury stamps shown here carries the authentic signature of one of the Mercury 7 Astronauts. Gus Grissom's signature is not in great contrast but is a large vintage (Virgil I. Grissom) autograph that extends diagonally across the lenght of that stamp block. In excellent condition overall. This set is a collection unto itself. Very nice.... |

All of the Mercury 7 have hand signed this wildly entertaining ticket/program for a dinner/dance held on 4/23/62. The event was produced by the launch team in honor of John Glenn and his Friendship 7 orbital flight. Each signature is in vintage style. In addition, the reverse side is hand signed by John Glenn's wife, Annie. This piece of history is matted and framed (9.5x15.25) in an elegant black wood frame accented in a bronze color to match the mat. Also included is a first day cover with the 4c Project Mercury stamp and a cancellation date of Feb. 20, 1962 (Glenn's flight). Both items are sandwiched between two layers of UV glass so that both sides are each is visible.
I've seen some most interesting items, authentically hand signed by
the Mercury 7 but never anything quite like this. A terrific
piece that could easily be the centerpiece of one's space memorabilia
collection.

"Moment of Discovery" print with accompanying FLOWN "Sealing Tape" NEW
with hand signed COA from LB-7 Expedition Leader, Curt
Newport

|
Offered here is a high quality print faithfully recreating the "Moment of Discovery" of Liberty Bell 7 after being lost at sea for 38 years. This was following it's splashdown and attempted recovery by USMC pilot James Lewis (autographs found on "Support" page) Never has so much controversy surrounded a mission as did Gus Grissom's Mercury - Liberty 7 flight. This print shows the scene with both historical and technical accuracy as the Magellan 725 Remotely Operated Vehicle first observed the sunken spacecraft during leader Curt Newport's amazing 1999 recovery expedition. Newport (see "Support" page) commissioned Boston artist Alfred Mira who produced the original of this image in oil. Curt Newport has hand signed each print as you can see in the scan. In addition however, for a small number of prints, Newport also included a piece of "Sealing Tape" actually recovered frome the sunken spacecraft during restoration. This FLOWN tape is nearly impossible to find today, except in small lucite displays produced with much smaller fragments, cut for resale. The small number of prints being offered here included the fully INTACT larger pieces of FLOWN "Sealing Tape", coming directly to Farthest Reaches from their source, Curt Newport in June, 2005. Each piece is substantial measuring approximately 1" x 2.5". As you can see, each print with FLOWN "Sealing Tape" comes with a letter of authenticity HAND SIGNED by Curt Newport AND a letter composed by Curt that summarizes the the history of the print, the flight and loss of the Liberty Bell and circumstances surrounding it's ultimate recovery. Only a very few of these are available so suggest you don't delay if interested because when they're gone....they're gone!

Liberty Bell 7 Desktop Model
Authentically hand signed
by Curt Newport, Guenter Wendt & Jim Lewis
|
This beautiful
1/48th scale desktop model of the Liberty Bell 7 is custom
produced for Farthest Reaches by model maker Nick Proach. The
image here simply doesn't do this model justice, though Nick's
reputation for quality is well known throughout the industry.
As nice as it
is, Farthest Reaches has not left well enough alone and has
taken this scale model to an even higher level. We have
arranged to have each model authentically hand signed on it's
powder blue base by:
1.
Curt Newport
- Responsible for it's recovery and author of the definitive
book on the subject, "Lost Spacecraft - Search For
2.
Guenter Wendt
- The Mercury Padleader and one of the LAST men to see and touch
Liberty Bell prior to it's lift-off on 3. Jim Lewis - Marine Pilot of Hunt Club 1, who lost a valiant struggle to prevent Liberty Bell from sinking to the bottom of the sea on that fateful day. Jim was the LAST man to have contact with the capsule before it disappeared from site in 16,000 feet of water until being found some 38 years later. |
The Recovery of Liberty Bell 7

(Recovery Expedition Leader) signs & adds, "Found! 5/1/99"
Guenter Wendt
signs with "Padleader" &
adds, "Off to space! 7/21/61"
Jim Lewis

This rare vintage promotional toy from the late 50s, was produced for Purolator by Jerome Lemelson, (click here for his bio) a man who is considered by many to be the most prolific inventor of the 20th century. It was given away as an incentive to anyone purchasing a Purolator Oil Filter. It's the only one I've ever come across and includes the instructions for inflating and repairing this impossible to find toy.
This pays homage to the flight of
Friendship 7 and you can actually see John Glen through the capsule
window!! It's condition is outstanding. |

This is a magnificent and possibly unique view of the main instrument panel of Sigma 7. This jaw dropping image was created by restoring and splicing a series of vintage Air Force photos. The photo is razor sharp with detail that permits for easy reading of all switches and gauges. Each image comes hand signed on the periscope view by Wally, who also adds the Sigma 7 symbol under his name. This will not be massed produced but rather offered in very small numbers. This truly unique panoramic photo would make an awesome addition to any space autograph/memorabilia collection. This photo is custom produced using a conventional silver halide process. It is printed on Kodak Digital Paper and will last a lifetime or three. The cost of the equipment that produced this image could pay for a nice house by the beach in Southern California ! This print has a smooth satin finish. Image size is 10x30 inches and centered on a piece of photo paper that measures a full 20x34 inches. |
