Ed Gibson

With the 40th anniversary of Skylab, Farthest Reaches is pleased to offer artifacts for sale from the personal collection of Astronaut Edward Gibson.  Ed flew on the Skylab III manned mission in 1973 and was the co-holder of the space endurance record for 18 years. Having joined the program in 1965, Ed has been able to acquire a number of space related mementos spanning all of his NASA years.  To that end, he has entrusted Farthest Reaches to make available to collectors worldwide, selected items from his collection that will be posted below as they become available.  We invite you to stop back from time to time as you just never know what unique treasures may suddenly appear.

Menu 1 & 2

Menu 3 & 4

Menu 5 & 6
Last one available

Offered here are the flown mission used menus from the flight of Skylab 1 (Conrad, Kerwin and Weitz).  They were removed from space station at the conclusion of Skylab III by Science Pilot Ed Gibson. thereby saving them from certain destruction.  As you can see, they are most interesting and exceptionally readable with each day's meals broken down for the individual crew members.

Each heavy duty card measures and has Velcro tabs on the top corners to prevent them from floating away.  The cards are double sided with a different menu printed on each side.  There were a total of 6 menus for each crew that spanned the duration of that mission.

These menu cue cards are in outstanding condition and come with individual COA's establishing their history and providing flight certification.  In addition, Ed Gibson has hand signed on side of each cue card, with mission information added.  Each card can be further annotated at the buyers request.

FLOWN Ed Gibson CRBM Tracking data: hand written in space by Ed Gibson
from the personal collection of Ed Gibson

This chart was made by Science Pilot Ed Gibson during the flight of Skylab III.  It tracks the voltage output of two Charger-Regulator Battery Modules (CRBM) over Skylab 3 1/4 orbits. Ed's notes are made in pencil on one side of a piece of Skylab Notebook Paper. The paper was launched on Skylab I on May 14, 1973, for 270 total days in flight and 111 million miles traveled.

The paper has fold lines but is in excellent condition, clean, bright and a working document loaded with Ed's notations. It is hand signed on the front and will be accompanied by an additional hand signed letter of authenticity attesting to its history and Flight Certification.
