by Rodney Carlisle & Dominic Monetta

 "Forward" by Astronaut James Lovell

This sterling silver Apollo 7 Robbins Medallion was FLOWN on that mission and comes from the personal collection of it's original owner, Colonel Frank Brandstetter.  It is #52.  Brandstetter is a man of many accomplishments and as such, was highly respected and admired by his many well known personal friends that included our own astronaut heroes.  His 1999 biography, "Brandy, Our Man In Acapulco" by Rodney Carlisle & Dominic Monetta (UNT Press, Texas, 1999) tells his amazing story and details his exceptionally strong connection to America's manned space program and many of it's astronauts and other key players.  Included above (with permission) is a view of that book's rear dust jacket with a portion of the "Forward" by Astronaut James Lovell, contained therein.

The Robbins Medallion being offered here was presented to Colonel Brandstetter by the Apollo 7 flight crew and from that time until being offered for sale through Farthest Reaches, has been maintained in his personal collection of space memorabilia.  This medallion was proudly displayed for many years in Brandstetter's Space Museum at Casa de la Tranquilidad, Mexico.  Please note some tape residue on reverse from it's museum identification tag, that can be removed at buyers discretion.

Following his retirement, President Lyndon Johnson, while visiting Brandy's Acapulco home, toured his amazing space museum and was quoted as saying (laughingly), "Damn you, Colonel, you've got more of this stuff than I do, and I'm the one who signed the appropriation bills for the space program!".  He asked that a photo be taken to commemorate his visit and it is included above.  This anecdote, along with a more detailed accounting of Brandstetter's space program connection is covered in his biography.

In the last year or so, as more collectors have discovered Robbins Medallions, the market prices of these FLOWN gems have risen dramatically. They are highly sought after by serious collectors seeking unquestionably authentic, flown artifacts. To that end, this FLOWN Apollo 7 Robbins Medallion comes with outstanding provenance.  It will be accompanied by a letter detailing it's history of ownership, hand signed by Colonel Brandstetter himself on his personal stationary.  Also included will be a copy of his biography, "Brandy, Our Man in Acapulco" that in addition to being fascinating reading, lends additional provenance to this FLOWN piece of space program history.  Farthest Reaches Inc. invites you to look for other unique items from the "Brandstetter Collection" in the days and weeks to come.

 "Forward" by Astronaut James Lovell

The 4"x6" American Flag affixed to the certificate as shown flew into space onboard Apollo 7 and comes from the personal collection of it's original owner, Colonel Frank Brandstetter.

Following his retirement, President Lyndon Johnson, while visiting Brandy's Acapulco home, toured his well known and amazing space museum and was quoted as saying (laughingly), "Damn you, Colonel, you've got more of this stuff than I do, and I'm the one who signed the appropriation bills for the space program!".  He asked that a photo be taken to commemorate his visit and it is included above.  This anecdote, along with a more detailed accounting of Brandstetter's space program connection is covered in his biography.

The flag and certificate as shown was presented to Colonel Brandstetter with appreciation by Walt Cunningham, Apollo 7, LMP.  From that time and until being offered for sale through Farthest Reaches, has been maintained in his personal collection of space memorabilia.  This certificate and flag was proudly displayed for many years in Brandstetter's Space Museum at Casa de la Tranquilidad, Mexico.  As you can see in the image here, the certificate has been toned by exposure to sun and the crew photo along with inscription by Walt Cunningham are very faded.  The inscription reads, "To Brandy, a grand friend and a grand American....Walt Cunningham".  The flag is also faded but clearly, has fared much better that the certificate itself.

This FLOWN flag will be accompanied by a letter detailing it's history of ownership, hand signed by Colonel Brandstetter himself on his personal stationary (see image).

The 4"x6" American Flag and mission patch as shown here were FLOWN to the moon onboard Apollo 8's historic first lunar voyage.  This comes from the personal space memorabilia collection of it's original owner, Colonel Frank Brandstetter.

The FLOWN flag and patch set shown here was presented to Colonel Brandstetter with appreciation and friendship by that mission's flight crew on the occasion of his birthday.  The brass plate reads accordingly, "To Frank Brandstetter, on his birthday, a great American and a true friend.  These items carried aboard Apollo 8 on the first lunar orbiting flight."  From the time of it's acquisition and until being offered for sale through Farthest Reaches, this amazing space artifact has been maintained in Col. Brandstetter's personal collection of space memorabilia.  This certificate and flag was proudly displayed for many years in Brandstetter's Space Museum at Casa de la Tranquilidad, Mexico and now it can be yours.

This FLOWN flag and patch will be accompanied by a letter detailing it's history of ownership, hand signed by Colonel Brandstetter himself on his personal stationary as pictured above.

This sterling silver Apollo 9 Robbins Medallion is presented in lucite along with a 1" long segment of actual electrical umbilical used to join the Command Service Module to the lunar module (Spider) during that mission's historic flight.  The impressive presentation comes from the personal collection of it's original owner, Colonel Frank Brandstetter.  The Robbins Medallion is #171.

The FLOWN display was presented to Colonel Brandstetter by the Apollo 9 flight crew and from that time until being offered for sale through Farthest Reaches, has been maintained in his personal collection of space memorabilia.  This medallion was proudly displayed for many years in Brandstetter's Space Museum at Casa de la Tranquilidad, Mexico.

To that end, this display of FLOWN artifacts comes with outstanding provenance.
